There are various institutions across the North West of England that are engaged in scientific research, that are not part of universities, and which engage in STEM outreach.
- Daresbury Laboratory is a National Laboratory run by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC, part of UK Research and Innovation) located in Daresbury, between Runcorn and Warrington.
